No data protection officer has been appointed, as there is no legal obligation to do so.

2. The essentials in brief

  • This site has no accounts and no comments. The only form is the contact form (section 6).
  • We set no cookies, use no third-party tracking services and show no advertising. We count visitors ourselves, only as anonymous daily totals (section 5).
  • Fonts, images and videos are delivered from this site itself, not from Google or other providers.
  • The only thing stored on your device is your colour theme, if you switch it (section 4).

3. Hosting and server logs

This site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA.

When you open a page, Vercel automatically processes technical data that your browser transmits:

  • IP address;
  • date and time;
  • the requested address, status code and amount of data transferred;
  • referrer (the page visited before);
  • browser and device identifier (user agent).

Purpose: delivering the page, stable and secure operation, defending against attacks.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and error-free operation).
Storage period: Vercel keeps these logs for a limited period under its own terms; we do not evaluate them.
Processing on our behalf: We have a data processing agreement with Vercel under Art. 28 GDPR; it is part of Vercel’s terms of service (vercel.com/legal/dpa).
Third country: Vercel is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The basis is the European Commission’s adequacy decision of 10 July 2023.

The connection is HTTPS-encrypted throughout.

4. Storage on your device

If you switch between light and dark mode with the ◐ button, your browser stores this choice (the word “light” or “dark”) in its local storage, so the site looks the same on your next visit. It is not transmitted to us. Storing it is strictly necessary for the function you asked for and is therefore permitted without consent (Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time by deleting the site data for mungdaal.com in your browser.

5. Visitor numbers (our own count without cookies)

To see whether people visit this site and where they come from, we count page views and some clicks ourselves, on our own server at netcup GmbH, Daimlerstraße 25, 76185 Karlsruhe, Germany (stats.mungdaal.com). We use no outside analytics service for this.

What is counted:

  • page views, and whether a page was opened from outside the site (the first page of a visit);
  • for the first page of a visit: the website you came from (only its domain, e.g. x.com) and the campaign tag in the link (ref, src or utm_source);
  • clicks on some links (e.g. to X, GitHub or a project) and a sent contact form, without their content.

For each count we store only:

  • the kind of count and the page;
  • a rough device class (smartphone, tablet or computer), which the server derives from the browser identifier;
  • the language your browser states (e.g. “de”).

What we do not do:

  • For the count we store no IP addresses and no browser identifiers.
  • We set no cookies, store nothing on your device and create no profile.
  • We can neither identify individual visitors nor recognise them across several visits.

Only daily totals are stored (e.g. “42 visits from x.com on 3 November”). We do not count visits by search engines and other automated programs. If your browser sends the “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, nothing is sent.

For the transmission, the server technically also processes your IP address. It is neither used nor stored for the count. Like any other request, the counting request appears in netcup’s server logs, which are deleted after at most 8 days.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in data-minimising audience measurement to improve this site).
Processing on our behalf: We have a data processing agreement with netcup under Art. 28 GDPR. Processing takes place in the EU.
Storage period: The daily totals contain no personal data and are kept without a fixed time limit.

6. Contact form and e-mail

When you write to us through the contact form or by e-mail, we process:

  • your e-mail address;
  • your name, if you give it;
  • the content of your message.

Purpose: answering your enquiry.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries).
Transmission: The form is processed by a function at Vercel (section 3), which sends your message as an e-mail to our mailbox. The message is not stored at Vercel. Our mailbox is hosted by netcup GmbH, Daimlerstraße 25, 76185 Karlsruhe, Germany, in the EU; we have a data processing agreement with netcup under Art. 28 GDPR. No other service is involved.
Protection against abuse: The form contains a hidden field and notes when the page was opened, to filter out automated spam. Nothing else is recorded for this.
Storage period: We delete your message as soon as your enquiry has been dealt with and no statutory retention obligations stand in the way.

This site links to other sites, for example X, GitHub and keepcapycalm.com. These are plain links: no data is sent to these services until you click one. Once you are there, the privacy policy of that site applies.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access (Art. 15);
  • rectification (Art. 16);
  • erasure (Art. 17);
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18);
  • data portability (Art. 20).

Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you can object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.

For any request, an e-mail to hello@mungdaal.com is enough.

Right to lodge a complaint (Art. 77 GDPR): You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is:

Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg (the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg)
Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart
